Ancient Egyptian farming sim Fields of Aaru announced by two-person team

A husband-and-wife team has announced Fields of Aaru, a cozy farming life sim set in an Ancient Egyptian-inspired afterlife. Marcel and his wife have spent the past three years developing the game, which blends farming, crafting, and exploration along the Nile. The game lets players build their home, restore a village, farm, fish, and craft while getting to know the villagers. Exploration is a key part of the experience, with trips into the desert to visit oases, pyramids, tombs, and ruins. One of the standout features is the fully modifiable terrain, allowing players to dig canals and reshape the world around their farm and village. The team has put significant effort into the game’s art and animation, aiming to create a warm, atmospheric, and hand-crafted world. The project is built entirely in Rust using the Bevy engine, avoiding traditional game editors like Unity or Unreal. So far, the response has been positive, with the Steam page reaching around 1,000 wishlists since its announcement last week. Fields of Aaru is being developed for PC, with plans to release a playtest and demo in the near future. The team is open to questions and feedback as they continue development. Those familiar with games like Dinkum, Aloft, or Luma Island may find Fields of Aaru’s blend of farming and exploration appealing.
