Who we are
PixelWave is an indie game news aggregator and hype tracker. We collect and rewrite publicly available gaming news from sources such as Reddit, RSS feeds, Steam, and itch.io, and present it alongside community-driven hype rankings.
What data we collect
Analytics
We use Umami, a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics tool that we self-host. It collects anonymous page view data (page URL, referrer, browser type, country) without setting any cookies or tracking individuals. This data cannot be used to identify you.
Cookies
We set a single first-party cookie (ir_consent) to remember your cookie consent choice. This cookie expires after 365 days and contains only your consent preference ("accepted" or "rejected").
If you accept advertising cookies, third-party ad networks may set their own cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies — the consent banner will reappear.
Contact & advertising enquiries
If you contact us (e.g. for advertising or DMCA requests), we store only the information you provide (typically an email address) for the purpose of responding to your enquiry.
What we do NOT collect
- No user accounts or registration
- No personal information unless you contact us
- No tracking pixels or fingerprinting
- No data shared with or sold to third parties (except ad networks if you consent)
Third-party services
- Cloudflare — CDN and DDoS protection. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Stripe — Payment processing for banner advertisements. See Stripe's privacy policy.
Your rights
Under GDPR and UK-GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you. Since we collect minimal data, there is usually nothing to delete — but if you have contacted us and want your correspondence removed, email us and we will comply promptly.
