Aviarena: Bird-Themed Roguelike
Solo dev releases Aviarena, a roguelike where insects replace cards, on Steam for playtesting
A new bird-themed roguelike, Aviarena, has been unveiled by its solo developer, who has been working on the game for about a year.
Aviarena is unique in that it replaces traditional cards with moving insects that interact and consume each other based on how they are played. Instead of deckbuilding, players must constantly reshape their hand in real time to line up numbers, trigger effects, and break enemy attacks.
Gameplay features include combining insects into sequences or matching numbers, using character skills to manipulate the hand, triggering chain reactions and extra attacks, and building around strange synergies. Players can search for 'Aviarena' on Steam to join the playtest and experience the game firsthand.
With its innovative mechanics and solo development effort, Aviarena is certainly a title to watch in the indie gaming scene. As the game progresses through its playtest phase, it will be interesting to see how the community responds to its unique blend of roguelike and insect-themed gameplay.
