Battle Nap Demo Now Live, Pitting a Sleeping Dad Against Dream Monsters
1050 Studio has launched a Steam demo for Battle Nap, a new roguelite twin-stick shooter where a vacationing dad finds himself battling bizarre creatures in a dream warzone.
1050 Studio, an emerging independent developer, has just pulled back the curtain on its debut title, Battle Nap. The game, a procedural roguelite twin-stick shooter, has released a demo on Steam, inviting players to dive into its surreal premise: a dad dozes off on a lake floatie only to wake up in a bizarre, combat-heavy dreamscape.
Players in Battle Nap will navigate procedurally generated levels, collecting from a pool of 15 weapons that can be dual-wielded and swapped on the fly. The game also introduces two distinct floatie types, each offering its own dodge mechanic, adding a layer of strategic choice to the high-octane action. A stackable perk system, featuring four (and eventually five) slots, promises game-changing combinations that encourage diverse playstyles.
Progression isn't just run-to-run, either. The game incorporates both temporary power-ups for immediate gains and permanent upgrades to offer persistent depth across sessions. The full version is slated to include four distinct dream worlds, culminating in four unique boss encounters. Players can also expect 39 Steam achievements, full controller support, and even player companions to assist in the fight against dream creatures.
The currently available demo on Steam offers a substantial slice of what’s to come, providing access to one full world, a boss fight, and the complete roguelite loop. 1050 Studio has openly called for community feedback as they prepare for the full release of their unique take on the twin-stick shooter genre.
