Decks & Dashes Trailer Reveals Real-Time Deckbuilding Bullet Hell
Solo developer showcases Decks & Dashes, a new take on the arena survival genre that swaps auto-attacks for a real-time, card-driven combat system and features two-player co-op.
A solo developer has offered an early look at their upcoming project, Decks & Dashes, with a new trailer detailing its unique blend of real-time deckbuilding and chaotic arena survival. The game challenges players to navigate bullet-hell environments using WASD movement, while their offensive and defensive capabilities are entirely dictated by a dynamic deck of cards. Unlike traditional arena survival titles where attacks are often automated, Decks & Dashes requires players to strategically draw and play cards from their hand in real-time. This mechanic aims to introduce a layer of tactical decision-making amidst the frantic dodging, as players wait for the opportune moment to unleash the right spell against swarming enemies. Further adding to the strategic depth, players will be able to fuse duplicate cards between waves to create more powerful, upgraded spells. The game also includes full two-player co-op support on Steam, allowing friends to team up, brave the bullet-hell together, and revive each other if one falls in battle. The developer describes the overall aesthetic as a dark fantasy, which the trailer visually reflects. The project is still in development, and the developer is actively seeking community feedback on the combat system and the dark fantasy atmosphere showcased in the new trailer. A Steam page for Decks & Dashes is now live for those interested in adding it to their wishlist and keeping track of its progress.
