General Practice Invites Players to Try Its Chaotic Medical Co-op Demo

A new playable demo for General Practice, a self-described “wacky co-op action-adventure” set in a hospital, has just launched on Steam. Developed by a two-person studio, the game promises a chaotic medical experience where players must contend with tight deadlines and often dubious treatments, available now for a hands-on preview.

In General Practice, the core loop revolves around diagnosing and treating patients using a growing arsenal of elaborate medical contraptions. The game’s humorous description hints at the unconventional approach players might take, listing actions from scanning and mixing to zapping, injecting, and even—ahem—shooting and exploding. The objective remains to contain epidemics and survive yet another demanding shift in a hospital where standard procedures are clearly a suggestion, not a rule.

As players delve deeper into the frantic hospital environment, they'll unlock unique patients, new contraptions, trinkets, and upgrades that may or may not make their lives easier. The game is built with co-operation in mind, supporting up to four players through online, couch, or mixed co-op, allowing friends to share responsibilities. For those who prefer to tackle medical madness alone, a solo mode is also available.

The duo behind General Practice—one of whom is the artist—are actively seeking community feedback on the demo. Their aim is to iron out any bugs and crashes before they begin reaching out to streamers and YouTubers, hoping to polish the experience to avoid any major hiccups. Players interested in diving into the medical mayhem and helping shape its development can find the demo page on Steam now.
