A solo developer has announced the demo release of their metroidvania game, Neon Moon, after three years of development. The game, which started development in 2020, is inspired by Hollow Knight and Bloodstained, and features a unique gameplay style where players can create their own fighting style by equipping different 'fireflies' that grant weapon abilities.

The developer, who had barely any experience when they started working on the game, has expressed pride in how the game has grown and how much they have learned throughout the development process. They were aided by two valuable supporters - a music composer and an assistant developer.

Neon Moon is set to launch its demo on May 28 on Steam, and players can wishlist the game to show their support. The game features atmospheric and dark locations heavily inspired by Victorian themes and a neon retro feel, and players must end the Dark Night that plagues the queen of the golden moon to save the world from imminent death.

The demo release marks a significant milestone for the developer, and it will be interesting to see how the game is received by players. With its unique gameplay mechanics and atmospheric setting, Neon Moon is definitely a game to keep an eye on in the coming months.
