Sefton Asylum Hits 1000 Wishlists in Under 7 Days

A small indie team has successfully garnered over 1,000 wishlists for their new game, Sefton Asylum, in under 7 days - roughly twice the pace of their previous games, Blood Bar Tycoon and Magic Forge Tycoon.

The team, who recently faced bankruptcy and had to rebuild, attributes their success to a combination of practical and resourceful strategies. These included sending out a press release, reaching out to creators and media outlets, sharing the project in local game dev communities, and contacting friends and colleagues directly.

The team also invested time and effort into making sharing as easy as possible for others, including writing ready-to-use post templates and relay templates for friends. Additionally, they sent a newsletter to 1,000 people who had followed their previous games and made Reddit posts to explain parts of the project.

The team believes that their smaller size and more direct approach have contributed to the project's coherence and success. They also invested time and money into the Steam page, particularly the trailer, which was edited in-house and elevated by a video editor.

Sefton Asylum's rapid growth is a testament to the team's determination and resourcefulness. As the game continues to develop, it will be interesting to see how the team builds on this momentum and engages with their growing community.
