Spirit Talk, a Cozy Visual Novel About Grief and Spirits, Launches June 8th

Independent developer Tortita Studio has announced that its debut visual novel, Spirit Talk, will launch on Steam on June 8th. Developed by a two-person team based in Spain, the game promises a cozy, narrative-driven experience centered around themes of grief, memory, and community.

Players step into the shoes of Julia, a young woman who inherits her late mother’s shop in a small, enchanting town. Along with the shop comes “the Gift”—a unique ability to communicate with spirits, including her mother’s. This supernatural connection forms the core of the narrative, as Julia navigates her new life, processes her loss, and integrates into a community with a rich, pre-existing history.

The studio highlights the dedicated effort behind Spirit Talk, which was developed over the course of a year. Every illustration in the game is hand-drawn, contributing to its distinct visual style. The team also built a custom scroll engine within Ren’Py, alongside a character layer system designed to allow NPCs to interact more naturally with their environment. A spell minigame and a cast of diverse characters with their own stories further enrich the experience.

Spirit Talk will be available on PC via Steam for $10.99, with regional pricing adjustments. It supports both English and Spanish localization and is confirmed to be controller-ready and fully compatible with the Steam Deck. As the June launch approaches, Tortita Studio looks forward to sharing their poignant story with visual novel enthusiasts.
