Taival, a Co-op Open World RPG Inspired by Skyrim, Opens Playtest

Taival, an ambitious new co-op adventure RPG, is currently opening its doors for a free playtest on Steam. Drawing clear inspiration from a trio of beloved open-world titles—Cube World, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild—the game promises a blend of blocky aesthetics, classic RPG progression, and accessible, playful exploration.

At its heart, Taival is built for shared experiences, offering co-op gameplay both online and via split-screen, or even a combination of the two. Players will never truly be alone, though, thanks to a shapeshifting companion by their side. The developers are placing a heavy emphasis on exploration and adventure, designing the world to be inviting for all skill levels, from those new to RPGs to seasoned veterans.

The current playtest phase is a crucial step for the team, as they seek player feedback on the game’s core gameplay loop and aim to root out any lingering bugs. While still in active development, with more content and deeper mechanics planned for a future early access launch, this initial testing will help shape Taival’s foundational experience.

Access to the Taival playtest is free and can be requested directly via its Steam page. To ensure they can provide adequate support and help, the developers are granting access gradually, with the first wave rolling out today, Friday, April 24th, at 5 PM CEST. Interested adventurers can also join the game's Discord server for further updates and direct channels for feedback.
