Undertaker Blends Hunt: Showdown and Blood West in Gothic FPS Demo

A new retro-inspired first-person shooter, Undertaker, has opened its crypt doors with a new demo available now on Steam. The title is being developed as a gothic, semi open-world experience set in Transylvania, drawing clear inspiration from the intense player-vs-player-vs-environment mechanics of Hunt: Showdown and the gritty horror-western atmosphere of Blood West.

Undertaker promises a challenging gameplay loop centered around precise shooting with limited ammunition, forcing players to think strategically about their engagements. When bullets run out, the game shifts to a more brutal, Souls-like melee combat system, featuring weapons such as sickles and axes for visceral, bloody encounters against its monstrous inhabitants.

Levels are designed with exploration in mind, allowing players to discover paths and approach objectives in various ways. The developers emphasize player agency, encouraging diverse playstyles—whether it's ranged, close-quarters melee, stealthy reconnaissance, or an aggressive frontal assault. The current demo offers approximately 1 to 1.5 hours of gameplay, giving a solid taste of these core mechanics.

While the demo provides a condensed look at the game’s systems, the team behind Undertaker is actively working on a new trailer to showcase even more of what's to come. Interested players can dive into the demo now to experience its unique blend of inspirations or add the game to their Steam wishlist to follow its development.
